At Turf Masters Pest Prevention, we take pride in keeping your home clear of pests of all kinds, but what you might not realize is that you are your home’s first line of defense against a possible infestation. Pest prevention and cleaning have a lot to do with one another; a clean home has a much better chance of keeping out unwanted pests than a cluttered or downright dirty one.
Pest prevention and cleaning: The first line of defense
Here are some helpful tips for keeping your house from falling into disrepair and inviting in the pests no one ever wants to see on the inside of their front door.
- Keep clutter-free: If your home has more in common with an episode of “Hoarders” than it does with one of “Cribs,” you are going to need to straighten up. Even if your mess isn’t anything more than clutter, your mess still provides plenty of places for pests to hide and thrive.
- Do the dishes: No one likes a sink full of dirty dishes. Not only is it unsightly, it can be a breeding ground for pests if left alone for any extended period of time.
- Eliminate standing water: If you have gutters that have standing water in them, or runoff areas where water pools and will not completely dry out, you are almost certainly going to see an infestation. Standing water is one of the most surefire ways to trigger mosquito breeding areas.
